Scalable, real-time leadership coaching

No extra course to schedule, no separate programme to run. HeyPenny builds coaching feedback directly into the work already happening.

Technically great at the job. Still learning when it comes to leading.

Two women are having a friendly conversation in a hospital or healthcare setting. One woman is wearing a uniform with a name tag and glasses, while the other woman is wearing a gray volunteer shirt and glasses. They are smiling and engaging with each other.

Most leaders get the role because they were excellent at the work itself. Leading people well was never part of the job description that got them there. A course can hand them theory, even simulate a hard conversation, but human-centred leadership takes time and continual practice. Something a single workshop was never built to provide.

Every 1:1 becomes a coaching session

HeyPenny scribes the conversation as it happens, then analyses it against the International Coaching Federation's Eight Core Competencies, the same framework a professional coach is trained on. At the end of the conversation, the leader gets two things they did well and two to focus on next time.

They also get to see how much of the conversation they spoke versus their employee, and how many of their questions were genuinely open rather than a yes or no. Real coaching, after every 1:1, for every leader, at the scale of an entire organisation.

The right question, ready before you need it

Knowing what to ask matters and so does remembering where the last conversation left off. Before a conversation, leaders can draw from a bank of over 65 questions, written by an organisational psychologist and matched to specific factors and whether someone seems to be thriving or struggling. After the conversation, HeyPenny prepares three questions for next time, so the thread carries forward without anyone having to remember it themselves.

Leadership coaching has a proven return

The International Coaching Federation's 2024 Global Coaching Client Study found coaching delivers a positive return 86% of the time, with a median return of five to seven times the cost. That return comes from the manager. Gallup research shows managers account for roughly 70% of the difference in team engagement. It also shows employees who feel genuinely supported by their manager are about 70% less likely to burn out. In healthcare, the same pattern holds: stronger leadership behaviour is linked to better staff retention, higher job satisfaction, and better patient care.

"Using HeyPenny has enabled me to have genuine conversations with my team... I feel more confident as a manager."
